I was invited to submit some of my art into the Chill Out Festival Exhibition that is happening At the Convent Art Gallery in Daylesford this weekend This Exhib had a Theme Which I managed to produce 2 works over a couple of days anyhow if you get a chance please check it out

sorry people about the lack of posts I guess you could say I am a lousy blogger a bit half assed about it really
I have certainly lost my mojo for art but all I can say is that I am trying my hardest to get it back
only yesterday I ransacked through my studio tossing all my old art into boxes with the intention of painting over the lot
I did this because I wanted to get unstuck from my current style which I loathe and I feel like I want to take my art back to the beginning where I was free painting abstracts dripping paint onto the canvas sometimes with precision but mostly at random and creating these pieces without any pre-thoughts or planning
so yesterday I grabbed a huge canvas which originally had my painting the green door on it and I made a start

the end result is something that I am really happy with and hope I can continue to do in fact I know I will. Well thats the plan anyhow 8-)

I must apologise to my followers for the lack of posts recently, my life has been out of control lately firstly we decided to sell the house which after 2 months of open for inspections and people constantly coming to look we finally did sell and have purchased a new town house,its lovely and the fact that no one has ever lived in it before makes it even more appealing we move into it on the 20th of December can hardly wait!
Now that I am moving again I have to clear some paintings out of the studio so I am having a studio moving sale and most of my paintings over at my made it store are heavily reduced and some have free post as well these pictured are two of my newer paintings that are also up for sale if you click on the pics they will take you to the page to purchase.

I am home from my holiday to Thailand but I wish I was still there its so cold here at the moment teetering on 7 degrees Celsius over there 39 most days even when it was raining. I had the most amazing time saw some great art ate some fantastic food and met new and old friends I stayed in hua hin and then in Bangkok just before returning home

whilst visiting the Bangkok art gallery (bac)

came across these sculptures they are made using material the artist stated they were members of the family

this street performer was just outside the art gallery near national stadium station at the bts sky train

she looked amazing

and this guy was on the 84th floor of the bayoike sky tower the views from here incredible

it was a fun place to visit while in bangkok

Sculptures in Progress

Started up sculpture classes this year already half way through Our project is to make something out of Chicken wire and render

the big piece below is what I started on at class but then I realized it was going to be way to heavy to transport home so I took it home for the rendering stage and once its finished it will live in my garden

The piece is more about the shape and form but is meant to resemble a peacock

so then I had to start over with something a little smaller so I could take it back to class for my teacher to see and mark as mid year assessment is happening in 2 weeks

this little guy has been put together with polystyrene balls his neck is a metal curtain rod and a cardboard cylinder from the glad wrap his tail is a plastic cup and his metal legs are something that came out of bus engine which came from my brother who is an engine builder then the whole thing is covered in chicken wire and render

this is now completely covered in render and drying out on the table

I will paint it once its finished and post the final piece for you too see

Part of my uni task this year was to paint a landscape and a still life something I have never done before or had been interested in.

The class went on a field trip to Mt Beckworth which is not far from my home it was a beautiful spot and I enjoyed being out with nature and painting a little more than I thought I would but I will say the downside were the big ants that almost got me and dust that kept blowing in and sticking to my canvas which gave it some texture in the end ha *-)

Its my dog buster and his coat of many colours

just got back from a 2 week break in Thailand I had an amazing time

but glad to be home.

went to uni today to pick up my art folio and to collect my end of year assessment mark

very happy they gave me a Merit and great comments regarding my art.

which sort of blows me away because I always doubt my ability as an artist

any how now that I am back will be loading up lots of art to ebay

that I created while at uni this year now that I can offer it up for sale at last

but this will happen after the weekend as I have to head to Phillip Island tomorrow

My local paper The Courier is having a My town photo competition and this is my entry above

Most mornings I walk around Lake wendouree which is Right in the middle of my town Ballarat and the other day I spotted a mother swan and her little baby cygnets and of course no camera to take the shot. so today I packed my camera hoping to catch sight of the group today well my luck was in she and her brood where sitting on the opposite side of the bank and just as I got my camera out to zoom in.It was like she was happy to help me get an even better photo as she led them down into the lake and they swam right up to me.It was great to see bird life on the lake again as for some time now because of the drought it has been a completely dry lake bed so wish me luck and I will keep you posted

Settling in Nicely to my new home in ballarat

My moving day went smoothly except for one little hitch the the moving van company which we sorted out in the end.

Started back at uni yesterday too, went there with high hopes of receiving my mid year assessment marks and was told you passed but feedback on your results will be a couple of weeks away which was a huge disappointment to have to wait another couple of weeks

I had uni this week after the easter break it was great to return. We have been given a new assignment that I am really looking forward to starting.

It deals with texture in your art and it is something in which I have not undertaken in my paintings.

its great to try new techniques and for this one I am painting a landscape which is stepping away from my style of art that I currently do.

I am needing to refresh myself and begin again with something new and stimulating

LITTLE CHICKEN funky little kitchen hangable handmade plush doll made out of recycled materials and new polyfil.

her little face has button eyes and embroidery cotton for her head feathers and the hanger is ribbon and has been machine sewed into her head.

her legs are elastic and she has square beads at the end she can either hang or sit up against something with her legs dangling over the edge of a shelf

and who doesn't love great coffee!!!(except for those who drink tea of course Ha!)

I have been feeling very discontented about my style of art lately and thats why I have called this piece 'sensing change". My mood is shifting towards my art and leading me in a direction that I really welcome need and totally embrace.

I have always been drawn to the abstract expressionism style of art which I originally started painting a few years back and since commencing my visual arts course at the Ballarat uni I have really had my eyes opened and been taken out of my comfort zone and I have embraced the challenges in front of me and am really enjoying going on this new path.

Stone the Crows

My new painting which is now for sale in my etsy store

This was created on a canvas at first I glued old pages of a novel onto the canvas and then I painted my image over the top,using acrylic paints,permanent marker.I also gave the sides of the painting a checkerboard look by using red and white stripes.

Stone the crows is a slang term used here in australia I don't think it literallly means to stone crows its more like a softer way of using expleatives Like S....! and F....! when something or someone totally does something to suprise you and you yell out "Stone the Crows"!

The girl in the painting isn't anyone in particular she is just purely from my imagination but the wooly coat she is wearing is like one I used to have back in the 70's it was a full length lambswool coat with a big fluffy trim all the way round the neck and down the front,I wonder what ever happened to that coat?

This bag has been upcycled I used a calico drawstring bag and re-worked it by overlaying the elephant and camel Print fabric added a 2 x jute handles a large button and a loop to fasten it with.the end result is this perfect little tote bag big enough to add your purse keys and mobile phone great for casual outings or when you go out somewhere special the bag is strong and it has been machine sewed it measures Approx 12 x 9 inches and the handles are 24 inches long each this is a one of a kind bag very unique.

also this week I have myself a new sewing machine well not new really its a Singer machine model #466,mum and dad got it from the op shop for my birthday and after having a few repairs done on it ,it now sews like a dream and I have started to make plushies except mine have a twist they are not really cute and cuddly more the type that look so odd that you can't help but laugh

as soon as I get my camera out will post some pics for you.

My studio at coal creek village is going well I have had lots of people through which is great as lots can get to see my art and it is so great to have a beautiful tranquil space in which to paint.

all of my shells and beads I have collected from local op-shops in my area which I love to do and have found some amazing items to add to my collages and mosaics,just last week I found a huge bag of lace which I plan to use on something in the coming weeks. I just am amazed at the items that people just toss out anyhow that's just my good fortune as some of these items I have found would certainly be more expensive if I was buying them new and not pre-loved.Recycling is a very enjoyable past time for me so if any of you out there have things that you might think I could use in my art just email me I would really appreciate it........

I created this one with my granddaughter katie who was here last week for the school holidays.we added inspirational thoughts and collaged lots of buttons sequins glitter wooden letters papers and sectioned each one with purple ribbon and buttons
we had a great time creating this as she loves to make art just as much as me and she is only 10 years old and has lots of potential I think (biased)

Korumburra, Victoria

Korumburra is a town in the Australian state of Victoria. It is located on the South Gippsland Highway, 120 kilometres south-east of Melbourne, in the South Gippsland Shire local government area.
Surrounded by rolling green hills, the town is 227 metres above the sea level of neighbouring coastal Inverloch (27km). At the 2006 census, Korumburra had a population of 4465.

History
The name is believed to be derived from the Aboriginal word meaning 'blow-fly'.
The Post Office in the area opened on 1 September 1884, and moved to the township on the railway survey line on 1 November 1889, the existing office being renamed Glentress. The railway arrived in 1891.
In the winter of 2005, Korumburra was blanketed in snow for the first time in almost twenty years. Local residents were seen skiing the tenth fairway at the Korumburra Golf Club

The Town today
Korumburra is known as the "Heritage Centre of South Gippsland". It is the home of Coal Creek Heritage Village which depicts life in the area over the period of the 1870s to 1920s, as the town rapidly expanded following the discovery of a coal seam. The outdoor museum covers 30 acres of bushland, including 60 exhibits.
Other town attractions include the Olympic pool (open November-March), two-court basketball stadium, livestock saleyards, art gallery, the South Gippsland tourist railway and an 18-hole golf course on Warragul-Korumburra Rd. The towns main industries include dairy and beef. The region is home to the world's largest earthworms. The town is also home to Burra foods which is a dairy company.
The town in conjunction with neighbouring township Bena has an Australian Rules football team competing in the Alberton Football League.
In DC Comics, Korumburra, spelled Kurrumburra, is the home town of The Flash's notorious nemesis, Captain Boomerang.

I was eating these the other night and I thought I could recreate the moment with a painting

these are so yummy to eat,and I thought I would include a recipe for you to try using of course you guessed it CANNED PEACHES enjoy!!!!!!!!!1

Coconut peach pudding
Ingredients (serves 8)
825g can peach halves in natural juice, drained
340g packet golden buttercake cake mix (or see related recipe)
60g butter, softened
3/4 cup milk
2 eggs
1/2 cup desiccated coconut
2 tablespoons brown sugar
1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
vanilla ice-cream and double cream, to serve
Method
Preheat oven to 180°C. Lightly grease a 6-cup capacity, 18cm (base) round baking dish. Place peaches in dish to cover base.
Using an electric mixer, beat cake mix, butter, milk and eggs on medium speed for 4 minutes or until thick. Fold in coconut. Spoon mixture over peaches.
Combine sugar and cinnamon. Sprinkle over pudding. Bake for 45 to 50 minutes or until a skewer inserted into the centre comes out clean. Serve warm with ice-cream and cream.

BloodLines: Art and the Horse

took myself off to morwell yesterday to go to the

labtrobe regional gallery

to catch the exhibition on horses,well I wasn't sure what to expect,because I am not really a fan of horses,too big and scary for me.
but once inside the exhibition I have to say I really enjoyed it some very fabulous works,which is now got me inspired to maybe to include some horse paintings within my own art,not the realist type of course,but something funky bold and pop maybe,stay tuned for further developments.

Exhibitions on the theme of the horse have been few and far between. This is surprising, considering the status of the horse as a national cultural icon: from The Man From Snowy River to 'the race that stops a nation', the horse has played an important role in Australian culture and identity. This is reflected in the number of significant artworks produced by Australian artists and in the number of contemporary artists who are attracted to the horse as a subject for study.
